SWEET XO FLAGSHIP STORE GRAND OPENING
I think I may have just found my next guilty pleasure. Sweet XO which just opened its flagship store in El Segundo recently, is the place to go if you are looking for unique shopping experience and gifts. You can spend hours browsing through all the items and tasting the sweets from ice cream (175 toppings or cupcakes and bakery items!) It’s truly merchandised to perfection with sweet candies and colorful gifts or accessories on every shelf. There is also a lounge area where you can relax and enjoy your sweets.
VIVA LAS VEGAS - LOVELY IN LA SHOPPING GUIDE
As a Los Angeles resident, I’ve been so Vegas so many time that I’ve lost track (it happens when you live in LA, trust me). It was my first time staying at the Cosmopolitan and I’d love to thank them for the gorgeous suite with the balcony and view of the strip! I was in Vegas walking the floor for the MAGIC tradeshow and got to preview some of the plus size collections from Kiyonna, Violeta, BB Dakota and others.
In my free time I did some serious shopping so I wanted to share a few of my favorites for larger sizes.
- FASHION SHOW MALL- Definitely hit up this mall for a great selection of items. Macy’s, Nordstrom and Dillards all carry a fairly generous selection for plus sizes.
- FOREVER21 PLUS (inside Fashion Show Mall)- I was thoroughly impressed at the selection and size of the Plus Section (the largest I’ve ever seen in for Forever21).
- RENT THE RUNWAY (in the Cosmpolitan Hotel) YES, YES, YES! I was so excited when I found out they carried up to a size 22 in their dresses here!!! Definitely go make an appointment and check them out.
- TOP SHOP & ZARA- Unfortunately no clothes in my size but definitely the best accessories at great prices. I picked up two clutches in Top Shop and a necklace at Zara.
- BETTIE PAGE - Pin up style clothes in the Fashion Show Mall.
- TORRID (OFF THE STRIP) - There is a Torrid in Las Vegas but its located in the Boulevard Mall (not the best part of town but great selection as far as Torrid goes).
- TADASHI SHOJI (ON THE STRIP INSIDE THE FORUM SHOPS)
SIMPLY BE “PAMPERED CURVES” EVENT
I really have to say that I am excited for Simply Be’s Spring Collection which can be found online now! They unveiled a few key pieces at an event at Bellacures and I wanted to share a few photos from the event and some of my favorite pieces from their spring collection.
AMSTERDAM & LONDON PHOTOFILE
I recently headed over to London for a work conference and had a few extra days to spend exploring Amsterdam. I shopped at all the usual places in London along Oxford Street where they carry extended sizes (River Island, Debenhams, NewLook, Monsoon, Mark’s & Spencer, H & M, Dorothy Perkins, House of Frasier, John Lewis and Evans to name a few).
As soon as we got to Amsterdam, I switched in tourist mode and hit the town. We stayed at the Sofitel Grand where we were treated like royalty. For shopping, the Nines district is one of the best. I also enjoyed Jordan as well. One of my favorite touristy things to do in Amsterdam besides the Van Gogh Museum, was the Heineken Tour which includes a boat tour of the city and beer! (Did I mention it tastes even better over there!)
OOTD: BLACK, WHITE AND PINK
I paired this gorgeous black lace and white blouse with my skirt from the Christine Kardashian Collection and heels from Torrid. You can buy the Gemma blouse at Sak’s Fifth Ave, and the cutaway pencil skirt at Christine Kardashian.
OOTD: featuring a Christine Kardashian skirt, Rachel Pally top, and JCrew Accessories
DESIGNER TO KNOW: SINGLE
I was thrilled when I got the chance to meet Galina, the designer for Single, at an event last year. Single is the perfect example of a brand the does curvy sizes right! Their pieces are timeless and chic and I really feel amazing when I wear them. I had always admired the line so when Single sent me a few items, I jumped at the chance to feature them on my blog. Their timing couldn’t have been more perfect as I decided to wear this dress to a dinner party.
You can find Single at Saks Fifth Avenue.
Dress: c/o Single (similar here!) Shoes: Sam Edemlan (available at Nordstrom) Clutch: Topshop Bracelet: Nordstrom
LOS ANGELES BRAND TO KNOW: LIVING DOLL
I’m always on the lookout for new brands that have ventured into the plus size market. One that recently caught my eye was Living Doll. Based in Los Angeles, their clothes have a street style casual flair to them. I pulled a few of my favorite looks from their Fall Lookbook.
Living Doll is geared towards young confident and bold fashionistas who love pushing the fashion boundaries with fashion forward pieces. You can check them out at www.livingdoll.la
DESIGNER TO KNOW: SINGLE
One of my favorite designers, Single is currently on sale, up to 75% off at www.myhabit.com. Go check it out!
A little about the brand, Single is an unapologetic stand for the individuality of style and confidence. Co-founded by GALINA SOBOLEV and MICHAEL SOBOLEV, Single was conceived to reaffirm every woman’s zest for life, romance and luxury.
Single is also carried at Saks Fifth Avenue as well!
THE CURVY FASHIONISTA TURNS 5
The wonderful Marie Denee of the Curvy Fashionista threw an awesome party in celebration of her blog going strong for five years! I grabbed my friend Sarah and headed downtown to the venue. Of course I had to wear something bold and fabulous to be interviewed on the red carpet by Go Curvy, so I decided my animal print Rachel Pally dress would do just the trick!
I love events like these because it’s great to network with other curvy bloggers and fashionistas. I apologize for the pics because all I had was my camera phone but if you want to see more head over to www.thecurvyfashionista.com and check out the Instagram hashtag #tcfturns5
OOTD: Office Attire
Working in the world of trend forecasting always makes me want to up my fashion game. I’m drawn to comfortable yet chic and flattering pieces of clothes that express my style. This LBD dress from the Banana Republic’s Issa Collection is perfect! This is also a great reminder that sometimes you can find pieces at non plus-size specific retailers that work for larger sizes. I paired this dress with a pop of turquoise from my Additionelle necklace and my favorite Vince Camuto shoes.
Looking forward to it! A few random pics from the night with my friends. Dress is a sequined jem from Forever21.
MADE IN LA
Wearing one of my favorite LA designers (Rachel Pally) in front of one of my favorite LA stores. I was going through my closet looking for a different way to wear my bandage skirt/keyhole top and ended up putting them together. Clutch: Top Shop, shoes: Sam Edelman, sunglasses: Chanel.
DESIGNER TO KNOW: LIESL BINX
I am always on the lookout for new and emerging plus size designers that I think you should know about. I recently had the pleasure of discovering Liesl Binx when she presented her line during Haute Curves LA. As a native Seattleite and FIDM grad, I can relate to Binx. This is just her first capsule collection but I am excited to see what she has in store for future collections.
