There’s a lot happening in the world of plus size blogging these days. Jay Miranda recently did a post about some of her “top bloggers” in the plus size fashion world. Take a look!
LOVE CULTURE NOW OFFERING PLUS SIZES
That’s right - another mass retailer has entered the world of plus size fashion and I’m thrilled to have another option in the world of Forever21 and Wet Seal. I missed the launch in late May but there are a few dresses I could see myself wearing for my upcoming holiday events. They are not currently carried in stores, so Love Culture if you are listening, it would be great to see your plus size line on the store floor! You can find their line here www.loveculture.com
WEEKEND WANDERLUST: PHOENIX EDITION
Last month in Phoenix was a nice get away from the LA grind. We got to try a new hotel, the Palomar, which exceeded all my expectations and then some - highly recommended!!! The location is right in the middle of the newly developed City Scape which has everything you could need within walking distance. Upon our arrival we decided to go to the Suns game since the stadium is conveniently located across the street. The following morning I discovered one of my new favs - “The Breakfast Club” restaurant. If you don’t want to dine at the Blue Hound in the hotel, The Breakfast Club is real gem.
As I’m sure you are well aware, shopping is one of my favorite “activities”, so I hit the Tanger Outlets in Glendale and also checked out the Arizona Mills Outlets. I loved the Saks Off Fifth and found a few things at Nieman Marcus’ Last Call. After a long day of shopping, pizza was on the menu and not just any pizza, but Chicago deep dish style was what my partner in crime was craving. We headed off to Oregano’s where I tried my first deep dish pizza. I really loved the outdoor patio which was perfect for a warm summer night and the pizza was mouthwatering perfection.
Our last day was spent on Pit Row at the NASCAR race. Side note: I’m really not a true fan my any means but give me front row seats to the action at any sporting event and I’m there! Plus, it never hurts that your good friend is the marketing director at the track!
OOTD: RACHEL PALLY TOP, TORRID JEANS AND SCARF, SHOES VINCE CAMUTO
OUT & ABOUT: TIME OUT LA AWARDS
I popped over to the Rooftop Bar at the Standard Hotel last week for the annual Time Out LA awards party. We sipped on drinks and ate ice cream from Peddler’s Creamery. For those of you that don’t know, Peddler’s Creamery actually produces bicycle churned organic ice cream. Located in downtown they feature local products and make everything in house.
My outfit for the evening consisted two Rachel Pally pieces, the bandage skirt and keyhole top combined with a skinny belt, Marc Jacobs clutch and comfy shoes by Sam Edelman.
Cardio Barre Opening Party
I stopped by the new Cardio Barre for their opening Party. We enjoyed drinks by Veev and snacked on delicious bites. For those that don’t know, Cardio Barre is a high energy no impact exercise class combines barre work and light weights to transform bodies and empower minds.
Cardio Barre Santa Monica is NOW OPEN and offering classes 7 days a week. Classes range from Intro to Advanced and a full schedule can be viewed on the studio’s website at http://cardiobarre.com/studios/santa-monica-ca/. Go check them out if you’re in the area!
OUT AND ABOUT: HAPPY HOUR HOSTED BY BLACKLISTED COUTURE
There’s been a lot happening on my social calendar lately but I always have time for a good sample saIe! First stop on my shopping expedition was the London Carter Showroom to check out Blacklisted Couture (www.blacklistedcouture.com) which offers edgy and stylish clothes for all sizes. I modeled a few pieces and finally decided on a dress to add to my collection!
Events like this are great because you can actually try on the clothing while mingling with other curvy fashionistas. I honestly can’t think of a better way to spend my afternoon - combining two of my loves, shopping and happy hour. Can’t wait for the next event!
POSH LAFW RECAP
It’s been a busy week for me. After returning from the High Point Trade Show, I rushed off the plane and made my way to POSH LA Fashion Week. Sponsored by Plus Model Magazine and styled by Reah Norman, this runway show was not your traditional kind of show. Looks were featured from Sonsi, City Chic, RIOT Boutique, SImplyBe, SWAK, Wild Siren, Zelie for She, Jaime, Posh Shoppe, Youthery Khemr, Jibri, Monif C, Chubby Cartwheels and Doncaster. Each look was styled together in one of four trends: Glam, Vintage, Sporty or Rocker. I snapped a few pictures and wanted to share them with you!
INTRODUCING NEW PLUS DESIGNER Z BY ZEVARRA
So, there’s been a lot happening in plus size fashion world in LA lately. We recently had two plus size fashion shows during LA Fashion Week and are starting to see the emergence of some new and exciting plus size designers! Z BY ZEVARRA is one that caught my eye. As described on their website Z by ZEVARRA, a Plus Size affordable luxury fashion label specializing in unique Ready-to-Wear apparel that accentuates and embraces the full figured body. This line is a breath of fresh air and the pieces are fun, playful, sexy, and fitted. The plus industry definitely needs more designers like this and I am excited to get my hands on some dresses!
You can find Z by ZEVARRA on their website www.zbyzevarra.com
FIRST GLIMPSE EVENT WITH BLOGGER BABES IN DOWNTOWN LA
I recently attended the fashion showcase event, First Glimpse, hosted by the Blogger Babes at the Cooper Building in Downtown LA. New up and coming designers Yoze, Love Gia, Rachel Sin, Sacred Heart Collections, Jaleh, Idea Minerva, and Micha Design were on display for our review. This was my first Blogger Babes event and there were several different bloggers in attendance. I loved the fact the showcase had the models posing on platforms instead of the runway, which made it much easier to get some great shots! Thank you Blogger Babes and Emblem Showroom for inviting me! You can find the link to their organization here.
Birthday Bash at Pearl’s Liquor Bar
So last week we had a last minute birthday gathering at Pearls in West Hollywood on the sunset strip! We reserved the upstairs garden patio which was very whimsical and even had a photobooth - say no more! I really love the patio and deck overlooking the sunset strip plus the drinks and food are delicious!
I threw on a bandage dress by Jaime, a new plus line carried at Bloomingdales. I love love LOVE it but sorry I didn’t get a better picture in it! The dress fits like a glove and the material keeps it’s shape well while holding you in, a win win! I paired it with my highest Michael Kors heels and a vintage necklace with a pop of turquoise.
